A peek into our work
- A marketplace for the music fraternity, connecting talent with talent seekers. The marketplace supports adding projects, applying for these projects, profiles, award flow, payments and subscriptions.
- The marketplace is based out of Singapore and India and we helped define, design and build the website starting from a one line brief.
Outsourced Product Development
Our team composition, our processes and our goals are all set up around product development. We are not consultants, designers or developers. We are a team that builds products for our clients. The difference between doing a project and a product is not just that of semantics. It is one of ownership.
A design agency would own the User Interface for your app/website and a development team would build as per documented specifications. And no one would be responsible for the small details. The emails that go out to the user. The search engine optimization of your web application, the user journey and experience. At Ajency.in, we take complete ownership of the product and work with you from idea to market and beyond.
It has taken us a long time to build a team that can do justice to all aspects of a product and it was well worth the effort. If you are looking for a team that can take full ownership of delivering your web/mobile product, then we would love to start a dialogue at firstname.lastname@example.org
World is Flat
Startups and early stage product companies are always cash strapped. At the same time, to create anything worthwhile, it takes time, effort and resources. Given that our clients are mostly non-funded idea-stage companies, we found it far easier to work with clients based out of the Western Hemisphere. What is low cost for them in London or Seattle, is a fairly comfortable budget for us here in Goa, India.
So neither do we have to always cut corners to fit the client's budgets, nor do they have to stretch their budgets to get a team that is passionate about what they are doing. Our favorite story is that of a client who spent more money in getting the logo desgined with a London based branding firm than getting the entire mobile app built with us.
Skype + Screen sharing + Google Docs + task trackers like Asana between them have made it very easy to work with remote teams. Some of our clients (four to be exact) have flown down to India and spent a week working with us out of our office.
There is a certain joy in building websites and web applictions for the local market and we continue to selectively work with clients across Pune, Delhi, Mumbai and Goa in India.
Technology Stack + ToolsOur technology stack is constantly evolving but here is a list of things that we use often
- 1LAMP stack - Laravel framework for PHP.
- 2Python/ Django with PostgreSQL.
- 3AngularJS with IonicFramework.
- 4CSS with LESS and SASS.
- 5Github for code versioning. Also for bug tracking.
- 6Wordpress as application framework.
- 7Titanium and Phonegap for mobile applications (Ionic Framework)
- 8Parse for cloud code and notification server.
A peek into our work
No not the mythical kind, the ones you find in the pages to a Tolkein book. Dwarves in most folklore are industrious, hard working builders. They build with hands. In the face of a mountain of challenges, they carve out a beautiful world. Today it is easy to find a jedi or a ninja or even a maven, but there are no dwarves. The last decade has seen focus on story telling, engagement, consulting, research and it has become less and less glamorous to be builders first. Dwarves are relegated to movies and books.
At Ajency.in, we think that building something is the best part of the process. We are not molding rocks into shapes or mining gold from the bowels of the earth, but we are the builders of the modern age. Putting together code and design and building beautiful, usable web and mobile products. We are, as we like to call ourselves, the Digital Dwarves. (Digital Dwarves Private Ltd is also our legal business name and the one you will see on our official communication and invoices).
Design and technology are both filled with use of words, terminology and language that is difficult to comprehend for most. The use of “jargon” as a superficial lacquer designed to impress, with scant regard for truth, has only one description: bullshit.
Because we see ourselves as builders, our processes, our focus and our rewards are all geared towards the same. There is no denying the value in strategy or consulting. In digital projects, user interface is extremely important. That is a given. But the proportion of value ascribed to these softer deliverables seem to far outweigh the value ascribed to the actual building. We have structured our teams to focus on the build output. If you are someone who is more of an 'idea person,' then we may not the best fit for each other. Similarly using research, brainstorming, meetings as a replacement for tangible output is actively discouraged.
Our research and brainstorming is rather done by building a prototype and testing it out. We don't offer nor do we indulge in arm chair consultancy. Our walls scream aloud the message of avoiding the bullshit that has become part of many web/mobile design/technology discussions/projects.
A little More on Us + Job-openings
We are also buzz word compliant and you can put a check against Agile, startup, flat UI, modern web applications, HTML5, Responsive web design, Remote working and many others. We are a fast growing team (38 at last count) and looking to add more team members. We don't work off set hiring targets and are always recruiting. We don't make tall claims about wanting to 'hire only the best' and no, you don't need to be a 'ninja' or a 'geek' or an 'expert'. If you are someone in the software, design, marketing, QA or the communication + copy writing space and want to start a conversation with us, do write in to us at email@example.com and do check out our hiring page.
